Labor Day weekend brought more beautiful Colorado autumn weather, not to hot, not too cold, just right! George & Barbara’s big day had finally come. Scroll down to see more photos and watch their love story unfold…
Friday August 12th was another gorgeous summer day in the foothills west of Denver where Jeff & Caroline began their new life together. It was great to be surrounded by fellow Canadians again! Jeff’s family and friends flew in from Saskatchewan to be a part of this wonderful day. When Jeff had first contacted me I realized he was talking ‘normal’ eh. ;-) We got along great from the first conversation and then met up later to discuss the wedding photography. I was looking forward to working with both of them and this was wedding was a blast all the way through!
I was looking forward to this evening for sometime, I have played ice hockey with Steve for a couple of years. I hadn’t met Laura until the evening of the shoot, but she was so easy to get along with and very photogenic:) We started out in Garden of the gods a couple of hours before sunset. The skies were still hazy with the smoke from the forest fires in Arizona, but it made for beautiful mystic photos with a lot of pleasing red and yellow hues at sunset.
Saturday April 9th was a gusty day with a few clouds. Rachel was not the least bit deterred and wanted great photos. After marrying the love of her life the fun began: enjoy a few of my favorite shots from there wedding day!
I (John Vandervalk) was awarded 3rd place for Creative Portrait in a prestigious international photo contest!!! A select group of the best wedding photographers from around the world submit their favorite photos, members of the Artistic Guild Wedding Photojournalist Assoc. (AGWPJA) Thousands of photos were submitted from hundreds of these selected photographers that are members of the AGWPJA. To be mentioned with some of these incredible and famous photographers is surreal and such and honor! Truly humbled and excited!!! X-Games 15 took place in Aspen, Colorado in the last week of January. The past few years the event took place, the weather socked in and athletes struggled to perform with snowy conditions and flat light. However this year we were blessed with sunny and pleasantly warmer weather! Here are some of my favorite pics of the 5 day event!
The sun was shining on Saturday November 13th for Cary & Ashleigh’s wedding day at the Shove Chapel in Colorado Springs. I had been looking forward to this day for quite some time! Cary was a best man in a wedding I had the pleasure of shooting two summers ago. We stayed had stayed in contact since that time and would have long talks about his painting, my photography and other interests… So enjoy the photos, we had so much fun taking them!
Many girls dream of being Cinderella, few ever get to ride in her carriage on her wedding day. This was Krystal’s dream and it couldn’t have been more perfect! It was exactly what I pictured a fairy tale wedding to be like. This was my first time to Disneyland and it didn’t disappoint!

Another sunny day greeted us in late July for Aaron and Whitney’s big celebration. Their wedding day had finally arrived! Perry Park Country Club is a gorgeous venue with the golf course greens sprawling up the Colorado foothills. The cool blue lake makes one forget about the dry climate and makes you feel like we are on the west coast.
